Why are kids so inquisitive? We expect children to ask why; what I do not understand is why young and old (adults) answer a question with a question. Can someone please shed some light for me?

So by asking questions, the adults may just be trying to see what the kid already knows or what point of reference they need to come from (example: if a 4-yr. old child asks where babies come from, they probably don't want or need to know ALL the details...in this instance point of reference would be very important!)
