When I was a kid...(yes I can remember that far back) I used to walk a wooden fence of our neighbors with the other kids in the neighborhood. Of course our parents were not thrilled about this adventure and tried to keep us off the fence as much as possible. But when you are 8 years old, there is something thrilling about being able to walk a fence farther and faster than your friends. But it was dangerous also, hence the parental warnings not to do it. But every chance we got, we walked that fence, despite the warnings that it was dangerous. Then one day it happened, someone got hurt, yep, they fell off the fence and broke their ankle. Talk about scared, we knew we were in trouble. Why? Because we were with the wrong doer, doing the wrong thing too! We are still like that even as adults are we not? Doing what we know we should not be doing, but doing it anyway. And the whole time, our Heavenly Father is warning us not to do those things, but we don't listen. We are walking that fence every chance we get. And our Father in Heaven is watching, knowing that sooner or later we will fall off that fence and get hurt. God cares about his children, and does not want to see us hurt, so he speaks to us in our spirit, warning us when we are about to do something that is not good for us to do. Better that we heed his warning, then end up falling off that fence and getting hurt, but too often we ignore his warnings and the consequences are severe. After our friend broke his ankle, we stopped walking the fence, knowing that it was to our benefit to do so. As children of God, we should always heed his warnings and listen when he warns us of danger. Let us not wait until it is too late and we have hurt ourselves or others over our disobedience.
