Pain can work to strengthen us can't it? Like silver and gold, fire removes the dross so that only the pure metal is left. That's how pain is, it removes the dross from our lives to leave the pure. Now I don't like pain, never have, but there are times I have had to endure it. Like when I was young and received correction for doing something wrong, (can you identify?!) It was painful yes, but it taught me not to repeat the offense. Or when I was in labor with my children, hmmm, yes, what can I say? After the labor I had a beautiful baby to love. Pain yes, but the joy afterwards was immeasurable. The same goes with life, there may be pain, but it is only refining us, preparing us to be better than we were. The Word says in Psalms that Weeping endurath for the night, but Joy cometh in the morning! Amen. So the next time you are in pain, remember that you are being purified - like a precious metal. It's God's way of removing the dross out of your life. By the way, dross is defined as waste or foreign matter, impurity - something that is base, trivial or enferior. The scum that forms on the surface of molten metal. And who needs scum in their life?
Michele wrote 946 Days Ago (neutral) 0Can the dross be likened to sin? I think so. Sometimes we do things and although we know that eventually we will have to pay the price for our wrong-doings, we never think about how that price may come about. The price comes about sometimes at such a high rate, we never want to go that route again! Sin is enemy to God and the dross is enemy to us. To get rid of the impurities, we do have to go through the fire! We have to go through the difficulties of life and be refined. There are situations that may come up and cause us to take great pause...rethink our positions and go to God for direction. Which is exactly where the Great Master wants us anyway...right at His feet! All I can say is...Lord, here I am.0 points
