I am ready to help the people that have been hurting and have not been helped in recovering from hurricane Ike there is a long line of people that are in need.0 pointsjsouth wrote 312 Days Ago (neutral) 0I am comfortable with the recovery plan itself. We are having problems getting our resources. My five clients that I have talked with on two different occasions want to know, "When are we coming to look at their home damage", Where are the resources we were suppose to have to help the clients out?
We do need to all work together and try to find resources where we can start helping people out. We
just can't keep stalling them off and not doing anything for them. It has been one year now since the hurricane. We all need to ask God to help us find the resources so we can start helping these people. These people are turning to us for help.0 pointsDonnaRae wrote 312 Days Ago (neutral) 0Am I ever ready! For those of you who are looking for rental assistance for your clients, you will be challenged. But God ALWAYS provides.
I spoke to a potential client Friday who was "desperate" to find rental assistance that day. Search as we all did, there was nothing we could do for him over the weekend, short of putting his wife and children in a shelter, which he turned down. He was out of breath and had to hand the telephone to his wife because he was too upset to talk. After reassuring her that we would work together she put her husband back on the telephone. I said this to him,
"You are a provider and I am not in your shoes. But I am here to do whatever I can. Today I can provide encouragement. God ALWAYS provides. ALWAYS. If you can just make it through the weekend and come to the GRACE office Monday, we will at least work together and be your advocate in the community."
The gentleman took a deep breath. He told me these were encouraging words and hung up with the will to walk to GRACE if he had to.
Your words and your advocacy can give your client strength and that is sometimes more important than money. BUT not always! Please go to my blog and look for addresses and telephone numbers for agencies that might supply rental assistance and more.
Meanwhile, I think you will soon find RUESLIST.com to be the absolute best resource for GRACE case managers……and then the world!

I really think we need to focus on getting our resources.0 pointsBoss wrote 312 Days Ago (neutral) 0I think I'm ready to do a recovery plan but that's only the beginning. If the resources are available or not is the real test whether we can help our clients or not. Where do we go from here is the BIG question?0 points
