Scripture References:

Joel 2:13 - So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm.

Psalm 51:17 - The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart - These, O God, You will not despise.

In alluding to the "rending" of the heart, I believe it is suggestive of a turning of the heart towards God; a tearing away from the things that are not of God....changing the condition of our hearts from evil to good in order to receive the grace and mercy of a loving God.

God wants us to "render" our hearts to Him in all humbleness and humility - to be "crushed" into a state of humility.  Our heart condition towards the Lord should never be one of pride...God honors those who know how to be humbly submitted to Him.  He is constantly seeking those who have the right heart condition - one that is "broken" and not puffed up - one that will be yielded to His every command.  We need to daily make sure that we have the right heart condition by maintaining a specialized daily EKG (Enhanced Kindness and Grace) test.   When we can extend enhanced kindness and grace to one another, then we'll know that we have the right heart condition for God to be glorified in our everyday lives.  And we will know that we are pleasing to the Lord!

Till He comes, may we all perform our daily EKG test and bring glory to His Name!

Much Love,

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us

But unto Your Name give glory,

Because of Your mercy

And because of Your truth!

Psalm 115:1
